Yamuna 101 : Twists
£15.00

The movements we repeat most often and without awareness are the ones that imprint on our body the deepest. These inevitably will over time change our structure and our postural patterns.  Leading to a variety of different twists or ‘zig zags.”  In this workshop we will identify our own twists and turns and the practices to unwind and start to set them free.

Yamuna 101 : Shoulders
£15.00

Our focus is on freeing Upper Body Tension. This is one of the most overused parts of the body. It is important to have full range of motion in the shoulder joint itself to feel tension free in the head, neck and torso but we will focus on as many of the key junctions and muscle groups as possible to truly feel relieved of tension in this area.

Yamuna 101 : Upper Body

Focused on lifting and opening the chest from the front, sides and back to maximise lung capacity (and improve posture).

Yamuna 101 : Abs
£15.00

Focused on the abdomen and our ‘centre’. This is key to lower back support as well as organ and digestive functioning. We will look at how we can tone, strengthen and lengthen the muscles at the very centre of our bodies. We will also visit the hip flexors to help lift and open our pelvis and our diaphragm to free the rib cage and improve the quality of our breathing as well as our posture. Ultimately we are finding and creating space in the body where it is needed to function optimally.

Yamuna 101 : Legs
£15.00

This focused workshop targets the legs and key muscles groups from your pelvis to your feet. Our legs are the pillars to our torso, our very foundation and are what supports our daily movements. Rolling through the legs increases flexibility and generates greater ease of movement, not just in the legs but through the entire spine.

As you roll out through the legs you will notice quickly how much longer the legs feel, how much taller you become and how you can align the hips, knees and ankles for increased stability. As well as identifying key focus points where there is pain or discomfort and learn ways in which you can create your own healing routine.

Yamuna 101 : Hips
£12.00

Discounted to £12 as part of my body is obscured during one segment of the class. You will still be able to complete the class by following my instructions.

The Pelvis and it's role as the junction between the upper and lower body, primarily how opening and releasing tension around the pelvis and in to the hip joint and hip flexors creates greater ease in the movement and flexibility of the legs and spine.  I have chosen an image below to illustrate just how incredible and complex the pelvis is and this is without focusing on the pelvic floor!!  You can see just how interconnected everything is.  Incorporating work from Yamuna's focused pelvic work and Yamuna Yoga we will work the full circumference of our pelvis.

Yamuna 101 : The Arms (Freeing the shoulders, neck and upper back)
£15.00

In this class we will learn how to release tension in the shoulders, all the way down to the finger tips. If you have ever experienced tension in your neck or shoulders you will know that the discomfort can radiate down the arms to the wrist and fingers. I often share exercises that involve releasing shoulder and neck tension by stretching and opening the palm. With the balls and the systematic approach through the Yamuna method we will start by releasing tension all round the shoulder joint and then move towards the hands piece by piece, feeling along the way the parts most affected by poor postural habits, long periods sat at a computer, heavy lifting, sports or even by the way we sleep. Working in this way can provide immediate relief for the neck, as well as for tendinitis and other inflammatory problems that can occur with overuse of any of the joints. This practice is blissful, you will also notice the lift through the sideline (ribs and hips) and the effect on your feet.

Yamuna 101 : Purely Pelvis
£15.00

The pelvis functions as a major foundation for the spine, torso, legs and feet. It is a two sided structure where both sides come together at the sacrum on the back and public bone at the front. Because we don’t use our sides evenly it can never really be balanced.

These differences are the causes of pain and often chronic hip problems. By identifying imbalances in the pelvis and noticing the effect these are having on the rest of the body, such as the feet we can start to build a strong pelvic foundation that will support us throughout life. By exploring the bones taking the most impact when we are standing, walking or running we can also work to improve alignment and bone quality in the pelvis.

Yamuna 101 : Lungs
£15.00

The lungs are the organ of respiration and of oxygenation of blood. Movement is autonomic but something we can control and effect. We flex and extend the lungs through our movements too; side stretches/reaching, forward folding twisting, back bending etc. We can restrict the capacity of our lungs through poor posture but through movement we can mobilise the rib cage and thoracic spine and create not just greater mobility but improved lung capacity too. We will highlight the importance of breathing and the mechanics of breathing in our muscular skeletal systems through the Yamuna Method. You will feel energised, awake and if not exactly a foot taller, feel as if you are. As with all the workshop online I’m making them as accessible as possible, a Pearl or Gold ball will be perfectly suitable for this workshop.
